This year, the “Lange Nacht der Industrie Rhein-Ruhr” (Long Night of Industry) celebrates a small anniversary: on October 29, 2015 it will take place in the region for the fifth time.
In cooperation with the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, the entrepreneurs associations, and the industrial trade unions, the societal initiative „Zukunft durch Industrie“ (Future through Industry) would like to offer the population a hands-on experience of production processes also this autumn. The important role that industrial enterprises on the Rhine and the Ruhr are playing on the world markets is not yet known to many people. “The industrial enterprises are the economic backbone of North Rhine-Westphalia, they are innovative employers and training instructors,” tells Rolf A. Königs, Chairman of the Board of “Zukunft durch Industrie” (Future through Industry). He and his company have been participating from the very beginning. “With the Long Night of Industry we aim at providing insights to the population that would not be possible otherwise. We want to show what the companies are producing and why they are that successful – often as market leaders,” explains Rolf A. Königs.
89 companies will participate on October 29. Walter Rau AG will also open its factory gates once again. Like in previous years, all tours are completely booked. The people are interested in a live experience of how the products we use every day and which facilitate our daily lives are produced. The interesting mixture of participating companies reflects how versatile the industry in our region is positioned in order to master the challenges of the present and the future.
„In the age of globalisation and digitalisation, the industry in North Rhine-Westphalia has become more modern, more innovative and more efficient than ever,” tells the patron of the event, Hannelore Kraft, Premier of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. “See for yourself why North Rhine-Westphalia is the industrial centre of Germany and one of the strongest economic regions in Europe,” the Premier encourages the citizens to participate in the event.
Due to the large catchment area, the “Long Night of Industry“ has several starting points from where the tours to two companies each will start in the evening. Our tour will start on the race course of Neuss. During 100-minute guided tours, the visitors will get insights into our production and work processes; they can ask questions and get a first-hand and personal impression of the company.
The ZDS Fat Symposium, an event in cooperation with Bunge Loders Croklaan, provides an overview of the latest topics around fats and oils for the confectionery industry.
